What questions to ask in a survey about missing socks?

I need the survey questions to come to the solution of three socks to a pair (my product).


I submitted a draft to my teacher and she didn't like the questions i used.. I listed some of my questions to show you.


"how do you wash your socks?"


"How long do you keep one sock when the other disappears?"


"Have you lost a sock in the washer/dryer?"

I agree with violet, you can assess the results better and come to a better conclusion using that method. Let us know how you did...
Reply:I think the problem is your questions are closed, and not very statistical.

how many pairs of scoks do you own?


options: 5 and under, 10 and under, 20 and under etc.





how often do you lose a sock in the washer/dryer


options: never, seldom, often, frequently, every time.
Reply:If the problem is that a pair of socks don't stay that way for ever, then your product only delays the inevitable. Ultimately when you lose that first sock, the two remaining become a pair and according to the current dilema, another sock will be lost hence bringing you back to the unpaired sock. :(





A better solution might be some sort of sock caddy. A little sleeve that yopu throw pairs into prior to throwing them in the wash. I know that as I walk out of the laundry place I see sole surviving socks thrown about on the floor or near garbage cans.





Questions I would ask would Who, What, Where, Why and hoW. You want to build a pattern as to how and why socks are lost so that you can come up with a solution. You seem to have come up with a solution and are trying to now develop questions around it.
