SURVEY! What do you think about high school children having to take random drug and alcohol tests?

I have recently attended my sons 10th grade Open House and the parents received a survey regarding how they felt about this. I was wondering what you think? Thanks for your help...

SURVEY! What do you think about high school children having to take random drug and alcohol tests?
I think it is excellent preparation for what they will often have to face in the real world. Most employers and especially professional athletes must undergo them, so why not students as well, as part of their real-life education?
Reply:I think it is great. I wouldn't want my daughter going to a school with a bunch or doped up juvinile deliquents.
Reply:I think it a very bad idea.It is humiliating and demoralizing.I would not allow them to test my child.Innocent kids should not be put through such a thing for the few idiots that come to school on drugs. If the school suspected my child were taking drugs,I would want them to call me and have a meeting to discuss the issue. Then it would be up to the parents if they thought testing was necessary, to either prove it is not true,or to confirm and get the child help.

add on:

I don't even think employers should be able to test without probable cause.
Reply:i think it is wrong ,, as long as kids aren;t coming to school stoned or drunk then i don;t think they should be tested ,,

if they come to school that way then yes test them,,

that is as bad as your employer testing you,
Reply:It's a very good idea. If kids know that they could get busted at any moment, it will definitely keep drug + alcohol usage down by alot.
Reply:I Don't think this is a good idea. It will make the children feel bad and untrusted, i think it is the parents idea to decide, not the school's!
Reply:I think that's about the most intrusive thing I've ever heard. If there's evidence of a problem, maybe the student in question needs to be tested, by random tests? No way.
Reply:I think that is wrong
Reply:to be honest i think thatd ridiculous. though i dont support drug use, i have a point to make on this. - if the kids are curious about these things theyre going to try them. wouldnt u rather have them get these things out of the way before they get into the real world?

i can honestly say that if i hadnt partied so hard in high school and learned these lessons that young i wouldnt be doing nearly as well as i am today.
