Why do these survey people not provide an option for people on disabilities when asking about employment?

I do surveys and enjoy doing them. However when it comes to the part where they ask about your employment there is no option for people on disability. What's up with that? i have taken to sending back e-mails complaining of the discrimanation.

Why do these survey people not provide an option for people on disabilities when asking about employment?
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! I usually check off "retired" because I was put on disability retirement a few years ago.

Not only that, the next question asks what line of work you are in!

If you're disabled and cannot work, how are you supposed to answer that?????

I've written to a couple of survey companies about that very question! If I find out something, I'll let you know.
Reply:actually, and in reality, specifically listing disability in employment would be the discrimination and others would be complaining about that.

Jobs are jobs and they are posted or people apply for them on an equal status so that both disabled and non-disabled can apply for them and get hired. See there is a law that says employers cannot ask if you are disabled. They can ask though about what accommodations they can provide to you to make your work and employment there easier for you.

So now you know.
Reply:unless it is a legally binding survey-

you have 2 choices-

consider yourself employed as taking care of yourself is a job

or consider yourself unemployed-

if this is teh worst discrimination you have to worry about-be happy-

I was fired from my job due to discrimination and lost $45000 in pay and benefits
Reply:I like doing them also and I too have pondered why there is no option for the disabled. Maybe because they figure not enough disabled people do the surveys only working people do. I have also written them if I find out anything I will let you know.
Reply:why make it a point of letting people know you are on disability? to me, there is no need for labels on people. maybe i misunderstand your question. is it that you are being told you cant do the survey b/c you have a disability? to me we should not put labels on people.
Reply:Most surveys have flaws - few cover all possible differences. Unemployed might fit in some cases.
